El Monterey® brand – the number one selling brand in the frozen
Mexican food category. The new El Monterey® Grilled Chicken
and 3 Cheese Quesadilla has been developed to target the retail
and club consumer.
“Quesdadillas are a very popular snack for kids,” explains
Chris Whiteside, Director of Retail Marketing at Ruiz Foods
“As the nation’s only full line manufacturer of frozen Mexican
food, we felt it was a natural addition to our existing selection
of El Monterey® brand products: Burritos, Enchiladas, Tamales,
and Taquitos.”
While the overall growth of the Frozen Mexican Category remains
good, growth of El Monterey remains impressive. In fact, at a 32%
increase year-to-date, sales for the entire El Monterey® line
continue to grow at a double-digit pace; growth over twice as fast
as the entire Frozen Mexican Category itself which has a total sales
growth rate of 15%.
In addition to announcing the El Monterey® Grilled Chicken and
3 Cheese Quesadilla, Ruiz Foods has also completed the new packaging
design transfer harmonizing all the products in the entire line
(see photo attached). The full-color design suggests the fun and
excitement freely associated with Mexican food.
